Thank you ABC for covering this story. For folks looking through the comments, try googling the Chinese Exclusion Act which is the only law ever to indiscriminately block the immigration of a certain ethnic group. Talk about racism.
And even up until the 1980’s, there were certain areas that explicitly did not allow Asians to buy homes in.
I did a report on the US Japanese Internment (imprisonment) during the war. A Caucasian who never heard of it until 19 years of age. It made me sick to my stomach. My dad worked for a large Newspaper at the time in which I found that the founder of the paper(McClatchy) had pushed for the imprisonment.

It's not just people of southeast-Asian descent; people of Latin-American descent and African descent are also treated like perpetual foreigners in the U.S.

Of those japanese prisoners taken remained in prison in the USA . Many Americans that were held prisoners in the Japanese prison camps had to revert to terrifying tactics for survival and few survived, some upon returning home from that war were accused of war crimes for this reason ! And that deeply is concerning. Though today there are Japanese who have become American citizens and are accepted .
