If it weren't for a scoring change in the Miss America Pageant in 1988…Gretchen Carlson would never have been crowned Miss America. That one and only year..the preliminary scores were not carried over and factored into the final night scores which determined who would be crowned Miss America. Had the scoring system not been altered that 1 and only year… Gretchen Carlson would NEVER had been crowned Miss America and we would not be witnessing the horrible demise of the Miss America Pageant under Gretchen's egomaniacal leadership or rather lack of leadership. This is what happens when the wrong girl is chosen Miss America!!!
