  1. I think not letting the people expose to enlightenment isnt something we should just see right of sudden. This should be made a votable choice rather than impose it on them.

  2. The new law is a code of conduct.

"The new COC, calls on tech companies to pay for content, though it does not define what it is worth.

The law would enable news companies to negotiate as a bloc with tech firms for content which appears in their news feeds and search results.

If negotiations fail, the matter could be arbitrated by the Australian Communications and Media Authority."

  3. Great quote from Scott Morrison…..“They may be changing the world, but that doesn’t mean they run it.”

Facebook thought the Aust government was bluffing? …."It wasn’t and the bill will become law. In one sense, that’s important because it establishes the principle that democratically elected governments, not tech companies, decide what happens in their countries. And that’s vital, because a working democracy cannot have unaccountable corporate powers loose on its patch".
…."cutting off essential information services on health and emergency services, were as arrogant as they were disappointing,” he wrote.

  4. Australian Media wants to charge facebook for content. Why would facebook pay when they offer their platform for free.
It's like lending your tools for free and being asked to pay for lending it. Corruption on the Australian side.
Australian Media why are you using facebook anyway.

  5. I'm not fan of Zuckerberg but he is right about this. Murdoch has no right to charge for the news. If Facebook was responsible for the news publication Facebook wouldn't have to BAN anything. They'd just stop publishing it. Murdoch just wants to milk the money train.

  6. I'm confused by this. There's more explaining to do. What I gather is big media companies are struggling to get viewers who choose to get their news online. So they want the online social media companies to carry their debts? Is this correct? Is that what's going on? Isn't this a case of inability to adapt to current times?

  7. Not on there, don't need it, who gives a rats about FB? Only fools use this garbage who think they are somehow "tech savy" when the opposite is the truth. FB users have helped destroy the internet and democracy on the way. Basically turned the world library into a comic book of memes and cat videos. Your children will grow up dumber than you, which means socialism is our future.

  8. Stop relying on FB for news. I mean isn’t that why you are supposed to have newspaper, websites etc. To rely on FB for news means you also only see the news they want you to see through their algorithm.

  9. Hey Aussies, is your homeland going broke …. now that it costs to get news? American media has been charging its listeners and viewers since forever …. but government???

  10. The same way you are watching this news in youtube many watch news on facebook, Australia wants to impose a tax on anyone that carries news content so if you are an australian living in Germany you woudn't be able to watch australian news in youtube either, it's a tax imposed by Rupert Murdoch to secure his monopoly in Australia

  11. Imagine starting up a brand new TV channel, show lots and lots of news from every other TV channel, make billions in profit from advertising revenue that previously went to those other TV channels, and yet not employ a single journalist or cameraman.
    That's Facebook.

  12. Facebook is not blocking content. #ScoMo is writing laws to block truth being circulated in the media, effectively banning FB and Google spreading news… the easiest way for ScoMo to do this is by charging FB and Google for sharing free content. FB is not blocking anything, they are simply not providing these services because of ScoMo’s underhand games. ScoMo is damaging Australia’s democracy by charging for free news. ScoMo is a liar and a fraud… he is making it easier for himself to spread his propaganda of deceit to protect himself. He wastes taxpayer’s billions locking up poor people like the Biloela family on Christmas Island and hurts Australia in the process 🇦🇺
    #ScoMo #Deceit #Australia #Democracy #LiberalParty #Propoganda #ChristmasIsland #Facebook #News

  13. I hope u tube block all news media as well as they never allow comments so there is no freedom of speech 👺👹☠😡🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬👹 why us news this is the only chanel open to comments

  14. They got what they wished for but just advise to Australians don’t negotiate with terrorists Facebook terrorised your community

  15. Jesus Christ saves from sin.
    Romans 3: 23
    For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
    Hebrews 9: 27
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
    Isaiah 64: 6
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
    Revelation 21: 8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
    Romans 5: 8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
    John 3: 16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
    John 14: 6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
    Romans 10: 9-10.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
    Jesus said John 5: 24
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
    1John 5: 10-13
He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
    Ephesians 2: 8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
    Romans 8: 1
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
    1 Corinthians 15: 3-4
    For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
    2 Corinthians 5: 21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

  16. Hi, I am Australian. I wrote this out in regards to another comment (I am not writing this out again) This is my take on it. NOTE: This shut down included community groups. Health services. Emergency services, charity groups. etc. It just wasn't News services.

If you need the news you can go directly onto the news site. Facebook shutting down news sites on its platform really isn't going to impact anyone. Need the news? Go directly to the site.

This is why I would say that Facebook also shut down the public service and essential services pages. They have interpreted news media as including press releases. So for example, the Cancer Council send out a press release to news media organisations. However this isn't the issue here. It is not about press releases. It is about media taking these press releases and producing content for the public and not being paid for that content.

The issue is that News Media outlets spend a lot of money covering news. So that news correspondent covering the war in Syria is paid by the media outlets for the content that he/she brings back. This information is then put together by the media and published on their sites. This costs money and news media feel that the tech giants are taking content produced by them and not paying them for that content.

I personally believe that all parties involved have legitimate concerns around this.

Yes, news media outlets are right. They spend a lot of money on covering the news and they should be paid. Yes, Google is right. It is a company that provides access for people to view the news and it does need to pay its staff and cover costs. Yes, Facebook is right why should it pay for linking to the news when it feels that it is doing the news sites a service by getting people to view the news services sites. (however you could argue that the news services also help Facebook as when news sites publish on Facebook more people use and click on those sites, hence there are more eyes on Facebook).

The Aus Gov (ACCC) is in the midst of this trying to referee a dispute. Trying to take everyone into consideration including it's own citizens. That has not got to be easy.

Personally I find Facebooks action detestable. Facebook behaving like North Korea? I disagree. North Korea can get aggressive at times but at least you can negotiate with North Korea. If you go into negotiation with North Korea you know you are dealing with an adult. Facebook have shown that you are dealing with a entitled surly teenager. I would guess that this move was ill thought out by Facebook and there is a potential that it will have consequences on Facebook. Google has not said anything about it but I get the feeling that Google is looking around and thinking "yeah, this Facebook guy, is not with me." :-

  17. They can get stuffed. This bloke is a typical yank, hates regulation but lives in a country with covid and a joke of a health system and parliament riots.

  18. Facebook is slowly becoming yesterday's news. might take 5/10/15 years. but they think their unique and a Unicorn. Someone has to tell them they are not anymore. Just a matter of time…

  19. ? LOL you know nothing about what is going on, if fakebook agrees to this they will not be able to label real news as fake. also forcing the conversation? by banning emergency services , government services, kids cancer programs and domestic violence programs? to quote out news agency fakebook is acting worse than north korea

  20. We’ll do just fine without Facebook news. There are lots of other sources for news! The world is starting to turn to companies who are doing the right thing and money is trickling away from those that don’t. Money talks. Go us! 🇦🇺 😊

    We are made to fight.
I am ready, to join this army of logical understanding of masses

  22. tbh this would be the best thing that could happen globally: ban news from social media, ban any political content from social media. No conspiracy anymore, no cultural fronts anymore. Why does it have to be there in the first place? We did not have it before social media, you know back when we were not yet enemies in society.. ..

  23. It has already been over two weeks since there is no more electricity in Texas and people are dying of cold and hunger.
Will this be the future of globalist psychopaths? If this is the future, we will all die ..
Texas Reader: Texas received federal incentives and spent $ 25 billion to switch to green energy in the form of wind turbines and solar panels. Wind turbines have been frozen since last Sunday and solar panels are covered in snow. The media are suppressing this story.
