  4. The engines run the hydraulics and pressure systems for the aircraft. This means because the engine started producing smoke it got into the pressure system for the interior of the aircraft which is why people saw smoke. Also multi engine aircraft can run on one engine in most cases so they weren’t really in that much trouble. It’s what is referred to as a non concern issues, yeah you want to land but that’s just in case the other engine wants to give out. Before anyone says “oh what about sully!!??” He has a dual engine lost so he didn’t have a choice. Even listens to the recording there wasn’t any worry until the second engine rolled back. Aviation is really safe and all of the accidents you hear about are pretty much all of the accidents there are. All of the crashes for aviation in the US and Canada are done at one lab in Oklahoma and that’s for general aviation, commercial aviation, and military aviation. It’s pretty safe.

  8. Bad forward bearing on main fan looks like and the smoke was from the bleed air, emergency landing with one engine is safe the emergency is precautionary.

  20. Planes these days can actually glide without even 1 engine being on and working so its not that bad now if the engine exploded that would make things much worse .
