  1. This woman gets it. I teach concealed carry and of the 1,000 men and women from the ages of 16 to 80, I've never found a single person who could not learn to shoot a handgun accurately enough to defend himself/herself. Time is everything. The average mass shooting is over in 6 minutes. There's no time for an outside response, as a Secret Service study of 41 shootings found (not a single one was stopped by any off-campus response). One armed officer per school is normally not enough. Why do police carry guns if guns aren't the solution?

  20. I agree with everything this woman said, however, I don't agree with turning her testimony into a racial rant. The major cities across this nation, that she mentioned with respect to gun violence, are predominantly minority neighborhoods. And the violence is being perpetrated on them by their own kind. Gang violence is the number one issue with respect to illegal hand guns. The democrats who control these cities are doing nothing to address this problem.

  35. If criminals could ignore gun laws, they would have been using machine guns and hand grenades all along. They are creatures of opportunity who use whatever is readily available.

  36. This is one really confused woman. So, she thinks that putting a gun in her dead son's hand would have made a difference? She's been watching too many movies. Whatever gun she gets, someone else will get a bigger gun or more people with guns on their side. If she wants a gun paradise, she should try Somalia or Ukraine.

    Here are a few facts that she should know. For every justifiable shooting, there are 36 homicides, 78 suicides, and two fatal accidents with a gun. Justifiable use is less than 1%. Guns increase your danger over 100X; that's more than two orders of magnitude.

    She should also learn how to compare apples with applies. Stricter gun laws by state reduce per capita gun violence. It's not even open to question. And then there's the rest of the developed world which has a vanishingly small amount of gun violence who are living in free and prosperous societies.

    The connection with race is completely confused. The fact is that black on black gun violence is responsible for most gun crimes. Does she think that more guns will help blacks or improve their situation?

    The connection with police is also confused. She claims to defend the police but she wants to give everyone equivalent arms, in effect, giving the police the responsibility of protecting the population without the means to do so. What a friend of the police.

  39. This is so true. I lived in a bad neighborhood. As gun rights started to allow citizens to have a gun, is when it started to become safe. I already had a gun. At the same time when all my neighbors got guns, criminal activity fell dramatically. I don't have to have an M15, cause my neighbors do. Since criminals aren't going to want to test who does, and who doesn't have a more powerful gun, I'm safer. How dare these politicians who can afford their own armed guards, stop the rest of us from protecting ourselves. While I am at it, stop the drug war. It's aimed at minorities, and it is criminalizing our nation. Let police fight real crime, like rape, robbery, fraud, murder, and theft. We are clogging our prisons and courts with drug cases, from the failed drug war, while we let truly scary, and violent criminals, out on a pitifully low bonds, and light sentences, to do more of the same. I'm old enough to remember America, from before the drug war. It was a different place, that was safe for most Americans. I was given a 22 rifle when I was 7 years old, and never misused it. It's not guns that are behind all this violence. It's a criminalized society, made that way, by a drug war, that was sold to America, using the most racist language. William F Buckley, vigorously warned us back in the 60s about this. We don't need more laws, we need the right laws enforced, and bad laws repealed. Let the police do real crime fighting, instead of going through American's pockets, on the roadside, while real crime flourishes.
