Sorry, but the state and federal governments have NEVER funded these skilled nursing facilities adequately I had hoped that Covid19 would finally bring these issues to the forefront and result in adequate funding. Who's more important than our elderly frail seniors? I don't see that this horrific loss of life in these facilities due to Covid19 will change anything

  3. Before Covid-19 my mother was tortured and murdered in a Pennsylvania nursing home as part of a medical malpractice cover up so a nursing home could continue to get their CMS certification. Not one attorney would help because the Department of health and APS was involved. No media outlets would help. Our government is pure evil.

  4. At first I thought ABC would provide an accurate non-politically biased story. Wishful thinking. Definitely covering for Gov Cuomo and Murphy. They need to be held accountable!

  5. Meanwhile, in IL legislators have ignored things for 5 yrs as I tell them of being forced to work a 20 hr shift with 55 pts in facility that gets $25K fines routinely… and is still open. I am tired of sounding the alarm.

  8. This is why people should take care of their parents in their homes. Most countries don’t even have nursing homes. I think it’s evil and disgusting to put your elderly parents away in a home utterly disgusting

  13. Sad storie but no one was forcing these ppl to keep their loved ones there. These facilities aren't and weren't prepared for covid19. There is no one to blame here just ppl trying to get a payday.

  19. people in these facilities need family there every day!! I was in a rehab for two weeks after breaking both ankles and I can tell you if there were no family coming by to check on things daily, those ppl got the minimal care. Unless they could speak for themselves. I could not walk, but there was nothing wrong with my brain, so I made sure things were done for me properly, although I had to have a hissy fit every time I wanted to get a shower. The food was awful, and I had to get food from outside either from delivery or brought by friends or family. Keeping people out due to Covid was a BIG mistake!!!

  25. 20 body bags ASAP? That a sickening phone call. And remember the stupid idiot movies back in the day when we were watching and laughing how bad those movies were? Movie called Virus? And the rest of the virus epidemic pandemic movies? Compare those stupid movies where they closed the country, districts, hospitals, no ins and outs, military, etc. Where are these steps now?
    U.S. You're the biggest disgrace and this will be in history books. And health care studies for centuries.

Nursing homes in NJ and NY were ordered by their governors to accept Covid-19 patients from hospitals, including facilities without adequate space to isolate patients and without the proper ppe. Given that nursing homes contain the population most vulnerable to the disease and most likely to die from complications, it's surprising their weren't even more deaths.

  32. These facilities are all set up for profit, the people in them are wallets to the operators, i hope i get hit by a truck or something i don't want to ever die old in a home or cause of stroke..
