The comments, questions and conclusions some of you make are baseless and idiotic. I’m no expert but The balloons have trailing lines that hang down below the basket. These are probably what hit the power lines while the gondola was 100 feet up. Also is 100 feet high enough to deploy a parachute ? How much do 5 parachutes weigh ? Even if they’re worn the space they would take up might be prohibitive.

Years ago, I watched the wind drag one across a busy interstate 500 yards from the “landing zone†Luckily, it was not struck by a vehicle. But I knew then I would never get in one.
