As the job gets more advanced, the FAA is aiming to hire 18- to 30-year-old gamers for the next generation of air traffic controllers, all part of its new “Level Up†hiring campaign. The agency says gaming techniques like concentration, spatial awareness and coordination translate to the high-stakes role.» Subscribe to NBC News: http://nbcnews.to/SubscribeToNBC

FAA Recruiting Gamers For Next Generation Of Air Traffic Controllers
I game almost 10 hours a day. Im not doing anything right now. Im 18. Should I try out for the FAA?
I'm a pilot. There is a huge shortage of controllers right now. Glad this is happening. It does not matter where the controllers come from, if they come from off the street, the FAA will give them the same, if not better training than the colleges.
If it too late to apply?
Thank God I came across Dr IGUDIA at the right time and I saw a lot of testimonies and how he has cured a lot of people from herpes disease s then I contacted him for help and he actually cured me, he also has a cure for other form of STI
You have to retire at 56 hmm Nancy should have retired a long long long time ago. We really need term limits!
Putting our lives in the hands of gamers. I think I better start planning for my funeral.
So the next step is to create an air traffic control simulator to see how applicants perform.
"TWA 517 do you want to report a UFO, over?"
"Negative, we don't want to report."
"Air East 31, do you wish to report a UFO, over?"
"Negative, we don't want to report one of those either."
"Air East 31, do you wish to file a report of any kind to us?"
"I wouldn't know what kind of report to file, Center."
"Uh Air East 31, uh, me neither."
"What do you do for a living?"
"I push tin."
where DO I SIGN UP
They should hire VATSIM/Pilotedge Controllers
play stupid games, win stupid air crashes.
Planes flying is NOT A GAME!
Haven't flown commercial in 25 years. After hearing this, I'm sure I never will again. ATC is scraping the bottom of the barrel.
did they just watch AFP95 and assume gamers were like him cause uh
Oh god… I am a gamer too, but I wouldn't trust me to be an air traffic controller…
I would so do this because I love geography and weather but I'm disqualified because I smoke and have a record because I "drove high" lol 🤪🤪🤪 oh well
Yeah, because planes and passengers will respawn after crashes.
Ima need some gas before I do this job.
Most young gamers are high AF.
Nerd Alert ! 🤓 📢
Interesting. Im 24 and a gamer. I work long shifts in a warehouse distribution. Never once considered being an ATC but maybe ill take a stab at it? Though, i know very well that this is a job with no room for error, so that could be potentially nerve racking.
And bonus, seeing some of your comments, i dont smoke weed aha
Whoever wrote/researched this piece didn't go deep enough into the gaming environment…these 18-late 20 y/o kids do not have the maturity level needed to be ATC, have you missed the news about kids swatting, these are gamers who get so salty over losing a VIDEO GAME or most kids want to be the Ninja, Tfue, Shroud where they can make millions in sponsorship deals
they better remove the weed smoking restriction
nice
