  6. G forces misunderstanding. Her body was stopped by the rope she was attached to after falling probably 10-15 meters & NOT by the ground under many more meters down. Nobody survives a vertical 15 meter fall to the ground

  7. It is so interesting to me how little network news people care about the facts. I cannot believe what a disservice they do to society. They can’t or don’t care to tell, even a simple story like this, correctly. Nobody should ever listen to this idiots.

  11. It's amazing that she survived a fall off el cap with no ropes. Good thing alex was there to rescue her. In other news alex also rescued a baby who was at ground zero when a nuclear bomb detonated.

  21. Hate how the news made out like Emily would have died if anyone but Alex were there lol. As a climber I have massive respect for Alex and Emily (who has since become the first woman to free climb the route she was attempting here!) Funny watching poor Alex having to explain and debunk all ABC’s attempts to make it seem like Emily was in over her head 🙄 Guess it was a light news day…

  25. She got injured because she hit her head off a rock cause she fell from a bad angle 🤦🏼‍♂️ there were ropes to catch her. They act like Alex saved her life he just grabbed the rope so she wouldn’t fall further but the rope would still catch her. “Thank God you were there Alex” lol this news station I swear

  37. Wait she was free soloing, not free climbing? Honnold free solo'd it. I think this report is all messed up. He keeps saying she had no ropes, but i'm pretty sure she was free climbing, not free solo.

I feel like the only reason this was covered was because GMA could capitalize on a woman climber having an accident where she was "dramatically saved" and they could connect to Honnold and Free Solo to bump up views. As a climber who was familiar with the incident, the misinformation in the intro that Honnold corrected (e.g. free climb vs. free solo, explaining how/why the fall actually happened, clarifying tensions in the climbing community) was irritating, in addition to Robin Roberts trying to interrupt Alex when he was explaining what actually happened. It's interesting to me that they would cover this story, patronizing a woman and using popularity of an Oscar film, but not the death of Brad Gobright (a well known climber and one of the only people who has successfully free climbed the route Harrington was attempting) which happened on the same day this clip was published (11/27/19).

  42. She was using ropes free climbing isn’t freesoloing, also they treated it like falling is just some insane thing but it happens all the time this was just an unlikely really bad fall
