It is very sad about all these people that lost there lives over there , but my feelings are that it should not be the responsibility of a country or countries to stay there and chance more lives being taken from some one. So unfair to expect a soilder to spend his years over there and chance being killed also. Because no matter how much time you spend in this country things will never change , never change . You could spend another 20 years there and then leave and the same out come would happen what is happening now. I do not believe that it is the responsibility of another country to chance death for what , to just see the violence continue. If you want to change this countries outcome then you need to walk in to that country and leave no one alive . You would have to eradicate every single Teliban.

My father went to the Vietnam War he came back pretty normal he did his family and he has 45 years married with my mom I don't know why men in this era are suffering from all this stuff but hopefully they'll get better, I just probably get to have a very strong father physically and mentally God bless him one of a kind, and very proud of him 💪

I just do not understand how anyone in right mind can enlist in U.S military & die for a country which is everywhere fighting wars it never understands & it never should fight except a few idiots in power in DC are blood thirsty & start wars bc they always can under her crazy Constitution & stupid laws? 23. It's a bit too late to ask for the why now. Would the same gold star family send thoughts and prayers to people who are casually marked collateral damage? Those don't get a decorative wooden case filled with memoria. These people are and will be the breeding ground for the next generation of terrorists who will encourage the USA to start the next war. Maybe in Iran, maybe in North Korea or some other place that the US government, some arms manufacturer, the petrol industry, some enterprising politician deems worthy of American attention.

    When you enlist, you put your life into the hands of your commanders and up the chain all the way to the government. You also put the lifes of people you kill into the same hands. If you don't make sure that these hands are both competent and worthy, I don't see how you or your family has the right to complain later on.

    It's not like this is a unique accident and an unforeseeable catastrophe. The Afghanistan fiasco is the standard operation procedure of American warfare and politics. This is how every such conflict played out since the end of WW2. It's really the same as with school shootings. They happen again and again, nothing changes, after each and every one of them a lot of thoughts and prayers are send around and then the audience sits back and waits for the next one.

    Smart soldiers enlist because of the benefits they receive. Stupid soldiers believe that they are fighting for a just case, to defend their great nation. A country where bribery is exercising free speech, where equality of opportunity is considered to be different from equality of outcome is not a just cause and by no stretch of the imagination great.

    I find it disgusting that soldiers get to talk about sacrifices while innocent civilians are expected to have the decency to behave like proper circumstancial combattants – a statistic in a drone strike report.

    Don't misunderstand me, I totally feel with every father, mother, son, daughter, sister and brother who looses a loved one. I sympathise with every person who sees their work devaluated by bosses fucking it up. That's human and I want to think of myself as a human being with empathy and decency. But this video is all about valor and sacrifice for these great service members and their families as if their deaths and suffering is more important or valuable than anybody elses.

    A uniform should keep a human from becoming a monster, a war criminal who kills a teenager with a knife. Instead, the uniform protects this kind of murder. The uniform is supposed to be a protection for civilians, it should stand for the values of a civilised country representing a just cause and the values of decency. The uniform utterly fails to accomplish this. It does not deserve this special respect. It's the individual human being in this uniform that does or does not deserve respect. Celebrating service members just because they wore that uniform is meaningless and this is the very reason why so many men fall in their uniforms. There are too many assumptions about how they are all great, because they wear our uniform, and our case is just because we want it to be. We don't want to make it just though. We don't want to have to be decent, it's enough that we believe we are because we want to be regarded as such.

    This is nothing but cynical hypocrisy, even if the suffering is all too real.
