These two FEMA vaccination sites were part of a 8 week pilot program in cooperation with the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) to set a national roadmap on how different levels of government can cooperate to provide vaccinations for underserved communities. The timeline of this project was known before it commenced in February and as of this NBC report, FEMA is still providing funding and staff to run the sites past April 11; FEMA is only discontinuing vaccine supply to the two sites.

   The question is what actions made by the state to secure vaccine doses when it knew in February or earlier that eventually the FEMA doses would be withdrawn at the end of the 8 week program? Seems these local leaders just want to blame FEMA and deflect responsibility…
