  1. The Catholic Encyclopedia
    Volume 2, page 607
The feast of the Savior's birth is called Christmas, the Mass of Christ. It is celebrated on December 25 and is one of the main feasts of the liturgical year.
The actual date of the Lord's birth is unknown, and its commemoration was generally included in the Feast of the Manifestations (Epiphany, January 6) during the first three centuries of the Christian era.
History. In about the year 330, however, the church in Rome definitely assigned December 25 for the celebration, in order to honor Christ, the Light of the World and the true Sun of Justice. This was the day which had been dedicated in pagan Rome to the feast of the sun god and had been called Birthday of the Unconquered Sun. By the end of the fourth century this Roman date of the Nativity celebration was universally accepted by all churches, both in the East and West.

Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

  2. As a music lover, I see this as a heartwarming celebration of who we are. As a former chorister, I am in awe of what they've accomplished! Brilliantly done, the Alaska Chamber Singers!
This is just the kind of wonderful, feel-good story we need at Christmas, especially this year!
