Verizon Samsung Fascinate emergency dialing bug

It appears that for some people, emergency dialing while using a pattern lock doesn’t work after the DL09 update on the Samsung Fascinate on Verizon. http://www.androidcentral.com/warning-emergency-calling-broken-dl09-fascinate-update

  1. here is a bigger problem. the emergency dial option will call 911 if the phone is in your pocket. the "but dialing" problem. I think you should have to unlock the screen in order to dial 911.

  2. @therealslimshady7953 The point of it is if you don't have a phone, but the injured/unconscious person does have a phone. You grab their phone and make an emergency call

  3. that's because of that unlock code software, not the phone itself!!! disable that, and then check it again.

  4. I hate phones that let a number be dialed on the lock screen… I think they're headed in the right direction, they just forgot to remove that stupid button 🙂
I had an oooold Windows Mobile HTC phone that had like 6 different key combinations on the hardware dial-pad that would trigger a 911 call, drove me freaking crazy.

  5. I can confirm this bug, but I was able to fix it easily on my phone. Reboot the phone after creating your lock code. This bug should disappear (permanatly?) after a full power cycle. As far as which phones it affects, my guess is phones that have a lock code created after the update (for the first time possibly) & that haven't been rebooted since said creation.

  6. This bug has made up my mind for me. I will be getting the Verizon iphone. Seems like every update android phones get, either contain bloatware apps or bugs. How long will this take to fix? Just as long as the SMS bug that sent a horribly worded text to my father instead of the contact I wanted. So over android now.

  7. @ThechosenDemon Android phones suck. I have the fascinate rooted, and even with all the cool stuff they have, there is no support. When will froyo come, how about ginger bread? nobody knows. On ios you know when the update is and they don't treat you like shit. Iphone > Android. Its like a pc vs a mac, they macs dont let their software work on other devices because its not made for it, just like androids. shitty…

  8. i'm really starting to wonder, does samsung even check the phone at all before they release updates??? something that obvious should have been noticed by them, or maybe they did notice it but were too lazy to fix it anyway… HTC THE BEST!!!

  9. So much Samsung hate.. =/ It's not like HTC phones never have bugs, and I don't really see why the Galaxy S would be a bad phone… I'm very satisfied with mine, anyway. My one and only significant complaint left after all the updates (in Europe) is the plastic-y build.
