Hi there, recently I've been having an issue with my Shield Pro edition. Sometimes when I open my Vudu app my digital movies drop from native 4K to 1080p and the only solution I found is to reboot my system. Any idea why this is happening?
Can you download & install your favorite radio station streaming apps especially considering a lot of them have now gone it alone & have left platforms liie Iheart radio.
Every single solution that I have looked at so far you cannot do it you arebery limited to what you cam search for & download even with google play on these so called Google/Android boxes.
I have no idea why that is so.

Than the newer shield remote. Save it in then box.
if only for streaming movies and series this is not worth buying. roku is way cheaper and does the same. but this is awersome if you enjoy playing some android games from time to time. or want to use nvidia game streaming platform..

no usb port !!! unacceptable for a $150 media player, I have the last gen shield TV and ofcourse it has adequate usb port and i do have Hard drive and extended storage connected, The new processor with Ai upscaling and the new remote is enticing(my old remote died whole reason why i thought of looking into the newer model) but gotta fork out more money for USB port is just horrible on the part of nvidia. I bet NVIDIA could just release a patch tomorrow for the older hardware and squeeze out that extra 25 % performance and AI upscaling feature. Smh… You gotta be kidding me ! They couldn't of made this new design any cheap more looking or worse. I wonder what idiot over there at Nvidia signed off on this terrible design.. They even took away alot of the original specs . This is just sad.. I guarantee you that they wont be able to give this away next quarter ! All I can tell you guys who are new to Nvidia is to try and find the original used console on Ebay. Nvidia really fucked this up ..
Just bought the basic version today. After hours of testing and comparisons I'm a bit disappointed. First let me start by saying I bought this model mainly for the dolby vision and atmos and the new AI chip. Ok first here are my thoughts on the 4k upscaling AI abilities. Yes indeed if you switch it on and off or use the real time comparison slider you will see a difference in clarity. That being said when I switched to the built in app on my sony x900f using Netflix movies the sony built in dolby vision picture looks just as clear as the shield upscaling when set to high rez. So it seems to me that nvidia did something to downgrade the original picture and then when you switch to the high rez mode you think wow it really does work when in fact it is just making it look like it should in the first place. nothing but trickery. Not to mention the overall dolby picture looks better through the tv built in app. The colors pop more the blacks are blacker. This was also the case with other streaming devices I've compared to the built in tv apps and I've tried a lot. Apple 4k tv. 4k firestick. 4k roku. 4k fire cube as well as Sony ps4. If tried every possible setting to get the picture to look like it does through the built in but no success. I'm taking this thing back especially being it cost $150. Guess I'm stuck using the clunky crappy remote my Sony tv comes with which was one of the reasons for buying the shield. I also have the 2017 model pro shield but dolby vision does not work with it. So all and all the 3 things I wanted this version for dolby vision, dolby atmos and the 4k upscaling, only one feature works and that is atmos. At least I think it does. I haven't really dug deep into that one yet. As for nvidia shield with their so called superior 4k upscaling to me is a load of crap. Yeah maybe it does a better job than a walmart insignia brand crap tv 4k upscaling job but it sure as hell doesn't touch the picture quality on the sony x900f tv that I'm using. Don't take my word for it, do your own comparison with you tv built in Netflix app or whatever. As long as your tv isn't some low of the lowest budget tv you will see what I mean. Very disappointed in nvidia with this crap. (Update) after playing some more movie apps. A great example to do a comparison between your tv app and the shield is a animated movie on tubi tv app called the nut job. Just watch the beginning where the squirrel and mouse are standing on the telephone poll and look at their fur with and with out the 4k upscaling on. You will see a big difference in detail. That being said try playing the same scene on your 4k tv built in app and you will see it looks as good if not better than the shield. What a frigging joke. Also I am seeing what is supposed to be dolby vision looks exactly the same as hdr mode on my non vision 2017 shield pro. All these other devices including shield either have a lame version of dolby vision or my sony built dolby does it right. Time to box this shield crap up and take it back. Do not waste your time and money on this deceiving crap.

Yeah I have a Sony android 65x900f tv which supports Dolby vision and Dolby atoms so I'm good
Need HELP. Couple of years ago, and returned an Nvidia Shield Box because it did not allow me installing Firefox and other apps. I am considering buying it again, because the boxes and just purchased (Vankyo) don't let me use Alt+TAB to see all open windows to close them by clicking on the "X". Another issue is that I cannot delete downloaded files under File Browser, like with all my previous boxes. Is it that all new boxes with Android 9 have those issues or is it particularly this Vankyo box with those features removed? Can I do those tasks with this NVDIA Shield box?

I've only seen one person mention the fact that the specs are the exact same as the previous model, all they did was add a new remote, and make you purchase the game control separately. Now is it a good system, yeah it is. But there's a saying (trust but verify) and the numbers show that there is no 25% performance increase. From what I've seen, the only really difference other than the remote is Dolby Atmos, but at the same time, I'm fairly certain they could simply do a patch and have the 2017 model able to use that pretty easily. I'll be curious if they do, but I won't bet on it.
