  2. Google Translate includes the conversation mode which can be selected in the action bar in the upper half of the screen.

  3. Well, it has really. Speech recognition and translation have been on Android phones for years. I use the basic Google translator with downloaded language pack so I don't even get any delay, it really is instant. But I think the vast majority of Japanese people are oblivious to what their phones can do. Docomo seem to be using this to charge people for what they can get for free from Google. The live call translation might be nice but otherwise it's a rip-off.

  4. Sure, Google Translate does a lot of this already, but that near-instant love translation over phone is something unprecedented. Props to NTT Docomo for this innovation!

  5. This is brilliant use of technology… in fact, I'm surprised this hasn't already been incorporated into cell phones before.
