Nokia 9 PureView Review: More Cameras, More Problems

Read the full post: http://andauth.co/Nokia9PureView | The Nokia 9 PureView is a beautiful phone from HMD Global that aims high with its unique imaging features. The five-camera array developed with Light and Zeiss was perhaps too ambitious, as the camera app on our review unit performed poorly and the resulting images didn’t quite meet expectations. Practically everything else is great and HMD says the Nokia 9 will only get better over time.

  1. I have this Nokia 9 PureView Tel. And I am very satisfied with this Tel. Especially what great pictures it takes. At this Tel all the cameras work. If you haven't tested this Tel? Why do you do shitty reviews. Better before making a review, study this Tel for the first time in more detail. I own this Tel and I am mega satisfied with this superb Tel. Actually I don't have to carry all the Photo equipment after me. So if you don't know how to do a review about a product that is very good. Better left by YouTube.

  2. Business Opportunity in Ruvol

I have invented a Board Game [still unpublished and not yet out in the market] that I believe is guaranteed to be as challenging and exciting as CHESS. I called it “RUVOL.”

It is my hope that one day Ruvol may surpass chess as the “Number One Board Game in the World.”

The weakness of chess is it always starts in fixed positions that the opening moves become “memorizable.” In fact, not a few have so mastered the moves that they can play against their opponents “blindfolded.” It is for this very reason that the great Bobby Fischer introduced his so-called “Fischer Random Chess,” where the starting position of the pieces is “randomized” to make the memorization of openings impracticable. Fortunately, it is also for this reason that I invented Ruvol where “every game” has been calculated to be a challenging one to play.

HOW IS RUVOL PLAYED and HOW YOU CAN MONETIZE IT?

I detailed everything in my YouTube video. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcqth0m3-R0

    BIG MONEY POTENTIAL IN RUVOL!

It is worthwhile to note that the people who play chess will be the same people who will play Ruvol. In my Google search, I learned there are around 800 million chess players in the world. Even just a small percentage of these 800 million is good enough to earn big money from Ruvol either as an ONLINE GAME BUSINESS or as a PHYSICAL PRODUCT DISTRIBUTOR.

  3. Hey man, slow processing is not an issue.
The software is always ahead of the hardware. And the RAW editing, it's out of your scope.
Keep on taking selfies, don't bother about professional photography.

  4. This kid don’t even know anything about professional level cameras and depth and all such stuff and when he is looking at pictures he is like where is my light? 🤣🤣🤣 bro this is not shot and go camera🤫🤫.

  5. Basically as I see it, the Nokia 9 PV continues the concept of the Nokia 8 by having colour + monochrome sensors for fusion effects, instead of like the 7plus etc. all the other Nokia models which are of basically more conventional approach with Tele or wide angle lens & no monochrome sensors.

Of course in the 9 PV, as the sensor count goes up the complexity tests the limits of the SoC to handle it as they seem not designed with that many sensors used together in mind ?! As such AISC Light chip had to be deployed as imaging co-processor.

Overall I consider the 9 PV as targeted for the more non-typical, non-average camera-centric smartphone user who would make better use of all that depth data it captures via post-processing to bring smartphone photography to newer unchartered territory as such ! As with something 'new' it therefore are not to be surprised to expect new issues (both positive & not-so-positive) to be discovered.
Expectations from using the Nokia 9 PV would also tend to be more heavily dependant on the skill level of the user in order to get the most from the full capabilities of the device, like someone driving an exotic car which a typical user are NOT up to the standard to use ?! So any negative impressing feedback with this 'unusual' model saying it's 'no good' or 'gimmick' etc. I'll have to bear this potential 'shortcomings of the user' in mind instead of taking the easy way out by faulting the product.

  6. Looks like processor and ram can not keep up with 5 camera setup. They were telling they worked on this device for more than a year from the day they got hand on sd845. I don't think this post processing issue will solve completely in software updates. But it'll get slower and slower with age. I'll pass on this device. Hopefully successors will have better setup.

  7. The TOF sensor is for depth data. The 3 monochromatic sensors are only for contrast and light. Maybe do some photography research for the next camera phone review?

  8. Owning a nokia 8 since last year, Pie hasn`t been rolling out in my region thus this was a flagship not so long time ago. Proprietary camera app is a failure, integration with the software just don`t work as intended, fingerprint is pretty much mediocre. For its actual price it`s worth it, i won`t consider buying another Nokia (HMD GLOBAL) unless they give some more attention to the software integration.
I suspect this lack of attention to the software details is what gonna bring this brand down.

  9. Okay, calm down people.
Don't bash him with the comments.
He intended to review the complete package and not just the cameras which is fair to be honest, sure the company focused on the camera but is is in a smartphone shell and in the end of the day you have paid for everything that device had to offer. And besides he did say that the software is the culprit here, the software holds back the phone from being a top dog, it's expectations not met. RAW and Manual controls are great but the right moment won't wait until you've set up everything and that is where you need the camera to be fast (really fast).
Don't look at it as a camera, it's a phone with it's selling point as the camera.
Any point and shoot camera (in budget) will crush any phone camera if you're willing to put in the work but most people won't and many can't. So calm down, give him some chill.

  10. RE Android one: Nokia 8.1 still running January security patch in April so far not impressed with android one so called quicker roll out of patches.

  11. Great review, very honest and on point, this phone is a marketing attempt more than a photography breakthrough ☹️

  12. Sorry Dude, not that great of a review.
The depth mapping and RAW capturing is a huge reason for photographers to consider this phone, plus its price point is definitely fine for what it brings. I wonder if you have even tried to put those “underexposed” photos in the process of fine tuning, for example.

This is not a generic device for the quick random capturing people who aren’t photography enthusiasts do, otherwise it wouldn’t have 5 similar cameras. It doesn’t pretend to be that, even though it would do a fine job if that’s all your after. It’s the extra features that this setup brings that makes it stand out. It’s a very unique phone, you don’t seem to realize that the slightest.

Really hope you get back on this review en invest a little more/spend more research and time on it, cause your pretty much lowballing it, and it didn’t deserve that since it is a unique device that brings something new to the table.

Oh, and yes, it’s clear it has some issues, but we have every reason to believe this is gonna be taken care of. Otherwise, Nokia is making a big mistake and not giving all its potential. I don’t expect that to happen.

  13. I am not even sure if the screen is able to depict the quality of all these cameras.Of course it is an overkill but Huawei is killing it at the moment just because of the cameras, Samsung has just so much better software that at the moment Nokia cant compete with,XiaoMi is just killing the market with the low prices where Nokia is trying but can't compete with either and iPhone is iPhone. The best part of Nokia is the structure of the phone which doesn't really matters since phones right now are ment to be used for two up to three years. But there is also the dedication of them to keep up.

  14. looks ugly tbh. the nokia lumia 1020 looked more iconic and better 🤷🏻‍♂️
