  1. if every phone comes with cynogenmod i dont think theres a reason to buy that phone because that phone there and this phone there is the same

  2. Google did not invent android they bought it and slapped all of these rules and snooping programs in the os. I don't even use CM, but why not? A lot of people do.

  3. That's funny! Googles motto is don't be evil? then why does all of their stuff have 666 on it? Look at the logo on the Chrome Browser, Chromecast or any of it and you will see it, I was told by a google tech.

  4. All bow down to the Mighty Cyanogen. I'm all for CM,all my phones have Cyanogen on them. And love the idea of a cyanogen app store. Google really sucks sometimes, but cm has its faults to. All for it.

  5. Cyenogen should remember who made it possible for them in the first place & also if I had a set of app's that were "mine" I most likely wouldn't want anyone messing with my app's that basically makes android so good to begin with. He's upset that Samsung can't make a decent is tizen, them build your own. Or offer some help, don't be upset because you're limited by Samsung's tizen os. All in all, cyanogen should just take the open source part of Google ad stated in this video & start their own services which IMO won't work or make it. Or go Ubuntu phone, if goggles android isn't your looking anymore cyen' then forget the fact that your biting the hand that fed you & your company & just go Ubuntu.

  6. I really hope CyanogenMod doesn't mess this up with Google. Honestly I would never buy a phone or get a custom ROM without google apps. Whats the first thing I did after installing CM12? Installed the gapps package. They need to get their act right if they are gonna succeed

  7. still waiting for a phone that have the strenght of a desktop and steam market, would kill google services anytime~~ hail GabeN!!

  8. i dont know all the details of how these sort of things work but from what i know this sounds like cyanogenmod is shooting them self in the foot. unless they pull something really impressive out of their bag of tricks, i see this being a bad move. i personally am invested in the google ecosystem enough that i wouldn't switch to an alternative, nor do i have any desire too. I suspect most or the people interested in what cyanogenmod is doing feel roughly the same way. but regardless i wish them the best of luck.

  9. Google has practically given birth to cyanogen and android. In my opinion, they have a mountain to climb before they can overtake google……..it just isn't practical now. However I believe that every android phone must have a option of a custom skinned version along with cyanogen as second choice…..somewhat like a launcher. And is this clash gonna affect the working of cyanogen?

  10. Did anyone else watching this on an Android device have their phone/tablet pick up the "OK Google" phrase while watching this video?

  11. another app store is not good for the ecosystem, more programming for developers to release on each respective ecosystem means smaller companies have harder times producing content … less content or less quality worse for android/cyanogen easier for IOS. cyanogen could try working with firefox then?

  12. Also I tied cyanogen, back in the day it was so much better because it was less fragmented, now it is just like a rooted Nexus with some privacy apps installed but cyanogen takes more work. Plus you lose the good features manufacturers put on their devices, like with my Moto X

  13. On one hand competition is great for consumers so I like this news but on the other hand, remember how great Android fragmentation was before those standards? It was the best to develop for and find a decent phone, wasn't it?

  14. Actually Google is not a big corp. Its Microsoft before Google came there was Microsoft so mainly no one needs to turn on Microsoft .. Apple and Google uses Microsoft for everything ..

  15. But compared to what assholes Apple are, where they are exclusive, Android is pretty open. I think that guy is exaggerating way too much.

  16. As per my vision I have seen always Google is affectionate and caring for all . Example now Cyanogen is top of the world , behind it I only see the magical love. Those who experience it they could have understand it .  So my all loving friends watch it and feel it's worth
it's time to watch Jayce's http://domain.com , here one can save 15%off with coupon ""Android"" -:))

  17. It's not crazy for something like this to happen. Google may talk about open source, but it's just a technicality. They have a LOT of control over their Google Services for android. Now that Cyanogen is to be funded by Microsoft, I really don't think Google seems relatively that powerful as you expressed in the video.

No matter what, the competition would sure be an awesome one to watch. Grab your popcorn bowls everyone :3

  18. Things i do with my phone:

    1. Make a phonecall (okay thats given)
    2. Text, messenger, and social media (almost everything is available on all ecosystem)
    3. Email (I'm pretty sure gmail has the biggest user in email client business)
    4. Web search (Anything better then google?)
    5. Watch online video (Anything bigger then youtube?)
    6. Play game (Although i agree that iOS has bigger, better, and more established collections on games, im pretty sure android is the closest second)
    7. Maps and navigations (Again, anything better then google maps?)
    8. Read news and magazines and books etc
    9. Simple document editing (available at all ecosystem, and IMPO google drive works really well)

my point is, most of the things i use (and im pretty sure many of you do too) daily is based on google service, not because i simply have to, but because they are the best at it. and i choose to use 'em. so whats so wrong with google service installed on your shipped OEM phone?

and one more thing, is it just me who feels like what cyanogen was saying is, I like the stuff that u build but i hate how u run ur business, so im going to take your business away from u with ur product and and your branding and everything else.??

  19. Cyanogen has certainly lost it's bloody mind. Features like Google Now are not something every company can build. It combines the best of Google's Artificial Intelligence Platform with Google's Ecosystem. If they think they can build one that can rival Google Now, Cortana or even Siri, they are sadly mistaken.

This is similar to what's happening in the Linux Desktop World. Companies like Canonical can make good OSes like Ubuntu, Mint, etc. but will it be your single OS and daily driver? Not unless you're a developer for that OS. The only way for Linux to reach the "masses" is through big names like Steam, and the only way for Android to be relevant is through Google.
