I’ve been getting a ton of emails asking if I’m interested in buying Autovlog’s totaled hydrolocked C63S for a rebuild project. Here’s what I think about the car.

Many people told me to check this video out, and I think it's a good one. If I had endless amounts of funds then maybe I would consider buying my "old" car back, the problem is.. I don't. As I think this car will probably go for $40-60K at the auction I'm not in a position to own two C63's.. Whoever DOES buy this car (and can fix the engine) will have an awesome BEAST with low mileage in mint condition ( -engine ) It has a full front clear bra wrap along with a complete ceramic coating. I loved this car to death and I wish this never happened. To whoever buys it.. ENJOY !
His car wasn't even that nice. I have the C63s Edition 1 now that's a nice car beautiful colors and aggressive looking as F.
that car was $150k brand neew, he put 80k down when he bought it
Would have been a good project car for ALEX from LSC?ðŸ¤â€
Motors are on ebay
From what I remember from Mikes video the new owner contacted him and he ended up paying 29.5k for his Mercedes AMG
A few years ago I was at dealer for my Z06 checkup. A Red Z06 was in the exact situation. The cost of new engine was $16 plus install. The insurance paid off the finance and his down payment, smilar to AutoVlug.
He then turned around and bought it from Insurance with a low fee.
The head mechanic (I knew him as well) did some private work in house on the weekends and nights. He towed the car and brought to his house. After a couple days, the engine was out and the found about half cub of water in one of the cylinders and that had changed the compression ratio and the sensors would not allow the engine to start. The cleaned it, paid the mechanic and had a new Z06 (5000 miles) for almost $20K including the fix.
The trick was just like AutoVlog car, the engine died immediately. That's the sign the sensor shut the engine off before damage. IF the engine would try to start and fail, then it was more likely a damage.
I bet autovlog car was perfectly fine. Just needed clean up.
I doubt a wave from another car caused this. If you put this car in a situation where that is even possible you are a moron.
Lol likely you can pull the plugs crank it over and change the oil. Done it plenty of time nothing wrong with the engines I've done in on. More than likely there's no damage at all to the engine
I'm so tired of hearing about this guy's car. It's amazing how much everyone is talking about it.
*UPDATE* New owner called autovlog (found number in owners manuel) and bought it for 29,500. Already had engine apart and waiting on a part to come in from Germany.
Please buy it. Please document how Michael is an utter buffoon who should pay his insurance company back.
Just subscribed!
Is it possible to tear this motor down and rebuild it back to spec?
Ls swap it
Ya just drop an LS in it
The best or NOTHING!!!
I completely agree with you on everything you said.
Don't buy it until you know the REAL story of what happened. I have a 507 C63, with the 6.2L V8, and have driven it in a major downpour. Nothing happened. So find the truth, if he'll tell you what really happened.
Buy that overrated car goes perfect with your excursion.
Yes u should
Water is not compressible and a motor that has been hydro locked could easily have a broken rod or valve. There is a huge risk involved for a car with that will have a salvage title when your done.
$70k for engine rebuild? Almost like insurance company asked for a stupid value so they could just auction it off and not have to pay out for a new engine, wanted their cash back. Don't blame them but rather shitty from them.
His name is Mike. Mike from Sweden.
Mike from auto vlog
i would not buy it, a new engine would almost as much as a new c63
Haha… If anyone would buy this Car.. its be AutoVlog! Muahaha
first thing I would have done is pull the plugs and rotate the engine to see if it still rotates
The deal would suck regardless it will have a salvage title and take all of the risk for little upside and all of the risk
amg C63C its not c63s
My regular mechanic has brought a Nissan GTR that had flood damaged back to life before. It can't be that hard to fix the problem is it would still carry a salvage title.
