How To Replace Drum Brake Shoes (Full) – EricTheCarGuy

Here is a full length version of a video that I posted some time ago, this way you can watch the entire thing in one sitting instead of switching from one video to the next. If your watching this for the first time I’m aware that sandals are not the best thing to wear when doing auto repair. In addition there IS a jack stand just out of frame in the video I just leave the floor jack in place while I work normally where it is so that it’s quicker to let the car down when I’m done.

  1. Pretty complete. Any rubbing or pivot point should be lubed, adusters may need to be backed off when removing drums and easy way to remember is big shoe back. I like to put the springs ect back in the shoes somewhat after removal so its less thinking when putting back together.Always keep one brake drum on so you dont accidently blow out the wheel cylinder on the opposite side .Very good video for less experienced and nice of you to post

  2. Thanks for this good video. I'm 83 and about to start replacing the rear drum brakes on my old 1978 Dodge Colt 4 door sedan. I've replaced brakes on other cars during my lifetime, but your video refreshes my memory of how to do the job correctly. Much thanks.

  3. I watched this video about 8 years ago. I just purchased a used prius which the rear brakes are drum. finally time to use this tip lol Thanks Eric!
