How To Repair A Broken Car Antenna -EricTheCarGuy

This video shows one way you can deal with a broken antenna. Some of these older models had this type of antenna and they either got stuck in a given position OR they get broken off by something. Instead of replacing them with the same type of antenna that was in there originally I recommend installing one of these universal units. They’re cheap and also flexible which means the same thing won’t happen again. As stated in the video you can use this type of antenna in place of a motorized unit as well as this solid type. My one regret with this video is that I did not show how to install the base that came with the antenna as this is what most of you will be doing when installing one of these kits. It’s not that difficult, I just wish I had shown that.

  1. Hi Eric. I have a 2004 Element and my radio broke, I got a 2009 honda element radio from a Junk Yard I got an adaptor for the cable and the radio does not pick up any radio stations. Why do you think is not working? Do I have to replace the whole antenna system?

  2. So, I just bought a Mitsubishi Montero and I left it with the little dealer for a week. I asked that they clean it and give it a bath….dumbass went to the local car wash and snapped the motorized antenna mast off. I've been annoyed listening to the motor for 3 weeks….I wanted and easy fix so I bought a replacement mast….nope. Now the sound is worse….of course Eric the Car Guy has the answer. I bought a universal whip, instead of threading it into the existing motor/mast I jammed a piece of the broken mast in until the whip was supported. Now I'm picking up Birmingham Alabama radio in Atlanta! Not really, but it's working great! Now I just need to cut power to the motor…..thanks Eric!

  5. I love the way telescoping antennas look on vintage cars. That’s one of the highlights on my classic.

  6. So that's why, after I send my car in for service, I find oil and grease on random interior and exterior parts of my car 😁😁

  7. 2006 all stock honda crv. Just got a bluetooth transmitter & mostly all static. Crappy, old, wobbly antenna on the hood. Just replacing whats on the hood possible? Plug and play kinda deal without needing any special tools? Cant find anything online for my model and havent really looked at how the antenna is attached because i just plugged in the transmitter for the first time this a.m. in a rush on the way to work.
