6. After my last oil change, I am changing my own oil from here out. I checked the oil pan bolt to see how tight it was, and I found that I couldn't loosen it with my torque drill on its highest setting. I needed to use my impact drill to loosen it.

9. My bolt was very tight so I put my jack under the socket handle and cranked it up, success 🙂 I put the jack on a block to raise it up to right initial height. Make sure the bolt is turning anti clockwise!

10. My dipstick is heavily marked with oil up to the max line, meaning between the min and Max the oil on the dipstick is darker, while it's faintly showing above the max line, does that mean it's just about to much oil? And I should remove a bit?
    As well I'm assuming if I checked the engine when it's cold it's fissure going to be over when it's warm the engine?
    Lastly when adding oil after an oil change, am I supposed to add less being that the engine has some remannance of the old oil still stuck around the engine?
    If so why would the manufacturer recommends 6.4q when doing an oil change?

14. Punch a small hole in the oil filter, and let it drain into the pan before you loosen it

15. It's time you did everything good but you screwed a dry filter on your engine block. Should have filled the filter without overflowing it then screw it on to the engine block.

16. Only 1 jack stand? Tsk tsk tsk. I would advise to always use 2 jack stands. And always a good idea to fill new oil filter half way with the new oil befofe installing.

17. done many many oil changes. I hate the Mini Cooper filters and Fiat Filters in the most dumbest spot. Next to the ford ranger and older Taurus by the starter wires xD

18. Take the cap off up top first and place it in the hood latch. Gets rid of the vacuum pull of the crankcase… and Leave it there till you've put oil back in.

20. When changing the oil filter on my car, I like to partially fill the new oil filter with oil.

21. To prevent future trouble with a stripped out drain plug, use a EZ Lok insert. It's easy to install. Get only Fram filters. They filter better.

24. Hey just wondering, is it necessary to fill the oil filter with some engine oil before installing it? I’ve never had a problem though either way. Just looking for some thoughts/opinions.

27. I have honda civic 2005.
    Recently changed the oil to zic 5w-20. Previous owner was using zic but not sure which one.

    Anyways, noticed the engine noise increased after a week or two. Sounds like a jet engine when you give it the gas specially in first 5 gears.

    Someone suggested to use 10w 40. Do you think it will help reduce the engine noise?

    I live in a warm areas and car has 170000 miles on it.

35. my 02 Odyssey manual says that i need to change the oil every 7,500 miles or once a year. I understand from you and many other mechanics that i trust that it should be changes every 3,000 miles or 6 months. what is the truth? I use conventional oil but dont mind using synthetic if that would last longer. also, is it true that once you have used conventional oil that you shouldn't change to synthetic?
