I thought I would post a quick update on the Tahoe engine project answering some of the questions I’ve gotten for this series of videos. I will be doing a dissection of the old engine at some point but I have some other work to get done first, this will keep you busy in the meantime.

what happened with the exhaust leak?

@alternatemrdiscrete If that was the case then just about every engine would be loosing compression like this but I think in the case of this particular engine there were things going on on a very small scale that turned out to be a bid deal, I cover my thoughts on the cause in the next video. Thanks for your comment.
Eric I consider myself VERY fortunate to have ran across your mechanical exploits today. Your video is extremely informative and I can't wait to purchase myself a video or 3 from you. One question though? Wouldn't misaligned piston rings still loose compression even when their gaps were 90 degrees away from each other?

I was curious as to what you use to clean up your shop floor after such a dirty job? Do you use kitty litter or a combination of something else to get up the grease & oil?

@EricTheCarGuy Thanks. Not sure when the Civic video will be posted but it's not as in depth as this one as I wasn't really feeling good the day I pulled the engine. I'm waiting on some parts before I put it back in but I should have it wrapped up in the next week or 2.

@dinosoarskill17 It's a good habit to get into that helps customer service. For a customer it would suck to have all that work done and have to reset their clock themselves.
@mdebass I'll be doing a dissection video at some point in the future.
@Danlovesmakinvids To be honest I really couldn't say without getting at look at it for myself but as for the low fluid there are a couple of places it could leak internally, one being the radiator although it's not common. Also make sure your checking it on level ground and the level will vary based on it's temp sometimes what would seem like an entire quart.
@Artyfil Tightened them up first thing before the truck got hot.

How do u change the odometer for the new engine?
@Danlovesmakinvids Have you seen the RealFixesRealFast YT video on the C0327 Transfer Case Code? There is a TSB on this issue. Search for "C0327 Code" once on the RFRF channel. I assume the 4WD worked immediately before the fluid change? If your fluid is low, I would get my flash light out and find the vent hose on the top of the TK and see if it is wet. That fluid has to go somewhere. Normally the transmission leaks into the TK once the bushing/seal between the two units fail.

hey eric thanks for replying. its pretty cool that you did. anyway I have a feeling that it is an electrical issue aswell particularly with the shifter/encoder motor on there. I've heard of them going bad on my tcase gm 246. Do you think there is a possibility I screwed up something mechanically. It seems as though everytime I check the fluid it is lower and I've checked for leaks and I have none.
what about the exhaust leak that you mentioned in the last video?
@integraz32lover It might have gotten lost in the shuffle. Can you resend?
@RamblinAround It felt like a new truck, I'd get one if I could afford the gas.
@Danlovesmakinvids It's hard to say really but if it happened after you changed the fluid you might check to see if you accidentally unplugged something during the operation, that would be the first place I would look. It could just be coincidental.
