Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EViuUSTUxU&feature=fvwrel
This video covers the step by step that I went through to replace a clutch on a 2002 Ford Focus. This is the first ‘video manual’ that I’ve shot in the new shop and I think it’s a better video for it, I really enjoyed working in the new space. Part 2 will be out next week or you can get the full version now using the link above, either way

Where I check the transmission fluid
Bullshit.
Great video
Is this the 6 Gear+R versión??
Would this work for a Ford Focus 1.8L Diesel MK1 from 2001? thanks and great vid
Love the Elvis clock.😀
Are these the same steps for a2006 manual trans ??
I just tried to push the mtx75 up in, either this is the ib5 or you are a giant lol
Watching this today 9 years later and just have to comment and mention that your videos are great ! // Greetings from Sweden
Just fyi everybody this is the ib5 transmission, there is an mtx 75 transmission in my 2000 zx3 manual.
Haha, cut out exhaust? Ford had junk CC, may as wall stick a new CC in. O2 sensors are POS too. Replace with Factory. LOVE SVT, not Honda quality, but inexpensive to buy vs. Civic
I know this is an old upload, but thanks for the great videos! I just purchased the full length video because you did such a great job! About to attempt this tomorrow
Is this the same on a 2005 Ford Focus?
I can change brake shoes, brake disk, Axel's and small bodywork like a dent. I am not a professional mechanic everything learning from youtube also have not very practical experience for heavy work like a gearbox or engine, my next goal is to do general Engine overall to my Volvo s80 1999 witch I like very much if you have tips can be very nice. thanks
Thanks this was very helpful. I replaced the clutch plate first time in my life and it has gone good but the bleeding clutch fluid was a little tricky because when I have done everything Red Brake Light show up on the dash diagnose did not work maybe my OBD ELM327 not very or I don't know? finally, I took test drove very carefully and after many breaks paddling the warning red light gone from the dash. Ford Focus 1999. Thanks once again.
According to my Haynes manual, there's no drain plug. You drain the fluid by removing the axles.
Excellent video. In fact jacking up the car alone will take a lot of efforts.
Thanks for the video! Does somebody know the torque specification for the "drain" (detent) bolt?
Hello Eric, would this same procedure work on a 02 SVT focus? Dang clutch slave cylinder went out on mine
Eric, i have focus 2013. 1liter petrol 5spd. they say there is no drain plug. i haven't looked under yet, but is this the same transmission as in my car?
Hi Eric, what's the specification of that airpower tool that you often use to remove bolts?
At the point of 32 mins use a little jack to lift up the brake disc and hit down the wish bone.
My Saturn VUE gets damaged when you put jackstands under pinchwelds. It is a piece of junk.
I have a 2005 Focus Zx4 ST and although the fit between the subframe/control arm location to the transmission is crazy tight, we got it done. Had some bolts that were problems and needed to be cut out, while some we got away with a stripped nut tool. Layout was similar, but the approach was the same. Spent closer to 15 hours or so due to trips to the store, missing sockets, and those problem areas. Changed out the CV joint/oil seals, (one was leaking bad), changed out a CV joint grease boot that was split open, of course had to install new single mass flywheel in the process. Got a new Stage 1 clutch in and boy does it grab nice!!! Be careful not to use anything over a 1/4†ratchet on the throw out bearing bolts to not crack the aluminum, be oh so careful. Got the clutch for $260 with the flywheel and bearing. Mechanics wanted $900-1400 just for the clutch, no flywheel or joints etc. They wanted another $250 for the flywheel and everything extra. So as long as I didn’t spend 2 weeks on the project I saved a lot of cash! Was it a pain at times? Yes. Was it worth it in the end? DEFINITELY YES! You could get a cheaper clutch kit as well, as low as $150 or so.
lol have used that same jack for years, hate how it just shoots down 90% of the time!!!! PS some of the best close up camera work ive seen yet on mechanic stuff. thanks!
After 14 years TIME beat my clutch, not miles. A dried out clutch hydraulic system no longer holds fluid pressure … aaaannnddd it's been 115,000 miles so the entire clutch system and not just the master and slave cylinders are going to be replaced – THANKS ERIC
i have your video a couple years ago can you tell what ton is you jack stands please
I dont feel so bad paying the 700 i was quoted now.
Can u pull those cv axle out first before all the other stuff ?Would it be easier to drop the axles first??
Man the Weather over in your region transforms the cars to Rust buckets. Ask Eric O from south main auto he knows all about that 😂😂 shit i'm Glad i stay in a place where they don't use Salt on the roads. It Ruins cars.

Love the grinder scar on the exhaust lol
Thanks Eric !
Another big thanx, Eric. Brilliant video & gave us a chance to see why these Focus r not very popular !!
