How to lubricate caliper slider pins. The caliper guide pins are essential to the disc brake system. If the caliper pins are not free moving, the brake pads could wear unevenly and you can have premature wear in your brake system. Learn how to prevent uneven brake pad wear and how to properly lube the guide pins.
Here is the Silicone Paste I used: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005RNEH5O/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B005RNEH5O&linkCode=as2&tag=chri0e2-20&linkId=LGQ5CIGWERTJ6KSH

You, my friend, you're amazing. Every time I have a car problem I come on youtube looking for your videos
You are right. But when you installed the brake pad on Honda’s you have to lined up the caliper piston with the brake pad or this will always happen. In the back of the inside brake pad there is a pin and you have to rotate the piston to match that opening. You are good to go!
A word of caution when using silicone grease – be very careful to NOT get any on the rotor or pads. FYI
emery cloth works fine, you do not need to replace the pin unless it is beyond refurbishment, oddly enough I had the same exact wear and nothing was wrong with the piston or guid pins, I 'am at a loss
There was hole in the guide pin boot. You need to replace it.
Would Some bad guide pins cause the truck to shake when braking even when rotors n breakpads were replaced?
Just did my pads and skipped caliper pins now my pads are running hot
I brush it with a drill with a iron brush on the drill
People rarely do the sliders. I always whip them out, degrease, rotary wire brush, then silicone grease.
The kits are like twenty bucks anyway.
Always clearly explained and well filmed videos.
Hi Chris . Another good video as always.
I thought you would have mentioned cleaning out the channel or tube where they pins go into. Especially the upper one as that mud would be sitting inside the tube compromising the fresh grease.
I do my own brakes and have since 1989. I will smoke any brake mechanic out there all day everyday.
Most brake places do shit work. Slap it together get the money and go. Not here i take my time and its right including bleeding the brakes everytime. Midas and the others can hit there knees.
best how to mechanical channel on youtube
The baracket looks a little lose
Great video!
Thank you sir
Good video. I would put some grease inside the rubber boot b4 putting guide pins back in. If you only put it on the pin the rubber boot removes most of the grease from the pin like a squeegee
à °†à °†i love u girl.
Fantastic.
â˜Âï¸Â, thank you my problem is being solved ðŸ™ÂðŸÂ»
I recommend wearing ear pro if you have to bang a really stuck pin out. Last fall I had to do this on an outback and the pinging of a hammer on a lug wrench for 10 mins made my ears ring for the day.
Good job my friend
It would be good to also clean inside the boots and the well that the pins slide into!!
Hi great vid, have you done a vid on replacing break fluid on a car with an electric break booster, like on the landcruiser 200 and 100 series cheers Hans
Top man, I like your videos and the way you explain everything in detail, very professional Chris ðŸ˜Å
I sure hope you tightened the loose bolts on that Left rear caliper carrier
Good no as usual Chris. But you need to also clean inside housing of guide pin with break cleaner and fabric cloth.
I had the same problem on my CRV.
That rear caliper bracket, is loose.
5 years old but still a relevant tutorial
should have honed inside the caliper
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I just used anti seize on mine, one was frozen. Is that cool, or should I redo with silacone paste
