At least five people were shot, and one child has died after a school shooting at Perry High School in Iowa.

The gunman had a pump action shotgun and a small caliber handgun on him, police also found an improvised explosive device at the school.

LiveNOW’s Andrew Craft spoke about the new information released by authorities with former Las Vegas police lieutenant Randy Sutton.

  4. There’s a disturbing narrative emerging that is quasi excusing this murderers actions because they were bullied. Regardless of what they were subjected to I’m not sure where murdering a 11 year old fits it.

  9. I worked at a public high school on the south side of Chicago in the early 2000s. It was in a fairly bad neighborhood with a significant gang problem. There was only one way in the building for students and it required them to pass through a metal detector, have their book bag search and be wanded. There were multiple CPD officers as well as school security present. While there were shootings outside the building, there was never any shootings inside the building. Not one gun ever made it in the building. If every school in America adopted this policy school shootings (inside the building at least) would be eliminated. This is a real simple solution. I recently worked at a school in southwestern Michigan and I asked them why they didn’t adopt this system and they replied “We can’t afford it.” Meanwhile they were spending thousands of dollars a year on frivolous BS. People that are in charge of schools in this country are so stupid that it’s mind boggling.

  12. Social media is a problem, if you cant see that as a parent now I dont know what will make you see it. Think about it , the kid posted he was going to do this and everyone who turned their head away after seeing it , has a problem. Why would no one report this ??? Teach your kids better. If they see or hear something like this they need to speak up immediately. Otherwise look, innocent people are taken too soon.

  13. WTF is wrong with our children? What is society teaching the youth of today… We use to bring guns to school for sow and tell, of coarse i live in Texas [lifer] and i am now 71 yrs old. We had gun and archery classes, NEVER had an incident like this never. Chit children are f'd up to do such…. i have a hard time understanding this… NO MORALS!

    Calling his pain, a grievance, and telling us it's early in the investigation is a joke. The girls already told us they were doing horrible things to him at this public school. The officials involved knew where the anger came from the moment it happened and will cover up the mistakes and blame a metal object.
    You could take all the guns away and still have the problem; a young man wants to kill his classmates for the horrible things they're doing to him. Stopping school shootings is not about gun control it's about controlling the atmosphere in the school to create a place where everyone's happy and learning and not plotting to kill eachother.

  16. It is so interesting to read all the comments, there are a few who understand and probably have not had to endure the relentless targeting from a bully or bullies.
    But most comments want to blame the gun, the gun did nothing, no difference between that and a knife, a bat, using a vehicle to kill with, most of you had no concern for the young man who seems to have been bullied, targeted, and yes, bullies search methodically pick out the person in school. They want to humiliate. I don’t hear any condemnation from the majority of this post and the bullying. The terrifying weapon in school right now is the cell phone, it can inflict more damage on a person or group of people than most of the firearms in this country, it is used to humiliate and mock students that are not like them to the point where many of them commit suicide. This young man decided to go the opposite direction and take out those He felt responsible for him being bullied and his sister being bullied it is a sad day.

You have to change the title of this video to "Gunman had fully semi automatic assault weapon, the very same scary black weapon that the righteous people of this country want to ban" The very same righteous people that say we need to protect our children. while they have multiple layers of security surrounding themselves, but think you only need a gun-free zone sign to protect the children

  23. I can attest first hand that the schools are doing nothing about the continuing bullying all over the country, my children has been bullied for 3 years and no matter how hard you push to get them, the schools, to stop it they give a lot of lip service.
    It is sad that students have to go through that and get to a point where killing innocent children when it could have been prevented.
    The next step from the communist regime in this country, you can no longer call them liberals or democrats, they will push gun control, this is not about gun control, this is about a troubled teen being bullied to the point where when his sister was being bullied as well, he could find no other way to get them to stop.

  35. Another mentally ill, suicidal individual. There's a definitive pattern to all these incidents. Maybe if we treat these situations like high-profile suicides, they would start to diminish.

    Stop coddling people and treating them with sympathy. Respond with actual action, get them the help they so clearly need, and have the empathy to understand they're lives probably suck.

    We have all these things about "see something, say something," but people are too afraid to hurt somebody's feelings or get people in trouble. There was clearly something wrong with this person. If the government isn't going to protect people, then let people protect themselves.

  38. Hate is deadly by choice. So so sad for our schools and community. Does it matter that violent video games are so popular and given to our kids as gifts because they just can’t jive without it?😢

We need to band "European" gun ownership. MAJORITY of these "shooters on-site" are "European men & young men" with NO CRIMINAL RECORD. I repeat. NO CRIMINAL RECORD.
