29. As a black man in America, my feelings are mixed about yesterdays events in D.C. I would never advocate for violent insurrection yet part of me wished they burned the Capitol to the ground. IMO, it would be just what this White supremist nation deserved. We've seen black people PEACEFULLY protest just and worthy causes meet with the most extreme violence from law enforcement. And you have this group come to the Capitol (with only violent intentions) on behest of the president no less. And the police coddle them and even seemed to be in support of them. I love this country, but America is a long standing hypocrisy. We pride ourselves in being called "the great melting pot". But to me it's been clear from it's very beginning that the "American Dream" was only meant for one ethnic group. A group who by the way came here and basically stole this land from it's original inhabitants. I know for a FACT that all Caucasian Americans don't share this white supremist view. But a vast majority of whites in the country still do, and for that reason I fear that things in America will NEVER change, and that illusion of EQUALITY will never be achieved.
