Sacramento Police Officers Shoot Man Armed With Knife on a Train

— On August 15th, 2023, at approximately 5:07 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 3800 Block of 24th Street regarding reports from multiple callers indicating there was an individual armed with a large knife acting erratically on a Regional Transit train. Prior to the officer’s arrival, dispatch received two calls from passengers of the Regional Transit train advising of a person on the train with a knife. Officers arrived on scene. Officer #1 responded to the RT train while Officer #2 retrieved his department issued less lethal bean bag shotgun, then responded to assist Officer #1. The individual stood up, holding the knife. Officer #2 discharged his less lethal bean bag shotgun at the individual.

The use of less lethal was ineffective. The individual stood up and charged at officers while still armed with the knife. Officer #1 discharged his firearm. The individual stood up a second time still holding the knife. Officer #2 discharged his firearm. After officers discharged their firearms, they requested fire personnel, a medical kit, additional resources, and developed a plan for a safe approach. After approximately three and a half minutes, officers approached the individual, removed the knife from his person, and began rendering medical aid. Officers continued rendering medical aid until Fire personnel arrived on scene. Despite those efforts, the individual was pronounced deceased on scene.

  2. Im empathetic to a fault. In no way do i condone that mans behavior, but I couldnt help but to almost tear up hearing that guy scream for his god and beg for help. Something about it, it seemed primitive and truly desperate. What kind of mental misery leads a man to that point? I want to understand. I also cant help but to feel bad for the officers im not sure how they assess the situation but I personally couldnt help but to carry that traumatic burden of having to shoot him or anyone for that matter. Its gotta take a toll. Then again theres less empathetic people who see him as just a crazy guy with a knife on a full train…and i wont argue that for one second. I try to see where all side are coming from.

  4. PCP? Good thing the weapon didn't jam. I still say all cops should use .357 Magnums. You won't need to fire that many rounds.

  5. Unjust shooting. He said he can’t do it. It’s obvious he has a hex given by a 300 year old witch which makes him unable to drop the knife. Officers should have recognized the little critter holding his hands together. Appauling.

  6. Ok, now this seemed excessive right from the get-go & I always see the side of the police. Just las night there was an hours long standoff in LA with a guy with a pistol & swat. What is the actual SOP here because he didn’t charge till after he was shot.

  7. My big question though this man is arm with a knife 🔪 right? So why can't the police approach with a teaser gun instead of the actual firearm.

  8. I know they tried their best, but after a certain point after he doesnt respond very well to the first 20 times they command him to drop the knife and ask him his name, maybe try something else?

  11. Unjustified asf by the second officer. No reason to enter the train. No one was in danger of harm besides the subject. Horrible police work

  14. I am aware that he got back up. And I am pro-cop. I do not think the final volley of shots were appropriate at the time they were fired. If he charged again, yes. But not then.

  15. After seeing 100 similar videos It's crazy how these situations happen so many times . It's like suspects WANT to die or they think police are no different than a gang member across the street so now it's kill or be killed , or maybe its 100% because of drugs

  21. Without racial segregation, our once fine cities have become unlivable for white Christians. Maybe we should divide cities so that homosexuals, jews and people of color get half the cities, and the other cities are for white Christians only. That would be fair and good for everyone. Democrats, which represent the homo, jew and colored groups, can pick the cities they wish to live in. White Christians can take the cities the democrats don't want and rebuild our lives.
