1. I'm a pilot. There is a huge shortage of controllers right now. Glad this is happening. It does not matter where the controllers come from, if they come from off the street, the FAA will give them the same, if not better training than the colleges.

   Or do all requirements for ATC still apply with gamers being first choice because of skills?

12. Being the wife of an ATC that’s been in for 15 years, and was hired off the street with zero experience…. I’ve come to the conclusion that NO ONE unless you’re ATC or married to one…. understands the job and how it all works. Most of these comments are ridiculous, extremely uninformed and ignorant.

18. Makes sense, if you understand gaming. There are many, many types of thought processes involved in gaming, and an ability to track, memorise and concentrate on several simultaneous data streams would certainly be a mental skill that some gamers would have and use a lot. Target those people, for their ability to track complex data, and sure, makes sense that those gamers would be useful people with specific skill sets to shift into air traffic control, particularly given the way that such data is presented.
